Crossroads
Life throws challenges
Perplexing yet beckoning
Inviting choices, which direction to take
Left leads to uncharted territories
Right leads to well beaten paths
Novelty and adventure beckon
You turn left, at this crossroads
Bitter sweet mix of experiences
Give a shiny patina to my persona
Choices made independently
Suddenly lead to a precipice
Unsolicited, unheeded advice
Mocks and shreds confidence
Taking you to the crossroads…
Shall I make sensible choices
Fall into the cookie mold
On life’s baking sheet
Factory made and stamped
Individuality flattened out
Like out of fashion dresses
At the crossroads…
Playing the game, toeing the line
Makes everyone happy, not me
A single morsel of doubt lingers
This dough does not fit the mold
My mind and will are my own
Win or lose, I am the master
Of my destiny, and my fate!
“More than anytime in history mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to
despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. Let us pray
that we have the wisdom to choose correctly.” Woody Allen

Dear Bina,
Excellent poem. One becomes the master of his or her destiny by listening to the inner truth inside.
It is interesting that you quote Woody Allen. I recently saw an interview with him in which he said that he is happier and more content now than he has ever been in his life. He looked very goo. I'm sure you remember how he was criticized in the press when some years ago he married his step-daughter. We really don't know what's going on with other people. He did something that shocked other, but, perhaps, he was listening to the inner truth inside.
rgds,
Harry
